Founded by Alex Asseily and Daniel Mouen Makoua, Zulu Forest Sciences (ZFS) originates large-scale forest restoration projects using proprietary analytics, identifying and transforming marginal and degraded land into viable nature-based projects. The innovative platform combines more than 100 data layers with scientific and carbon market expertise to provide real-time, digital baselines of a landholding’s natural capital assets. A seed investment round of $3m was secured in early 2022 with participation from the Rausing family office and Lars Rasmussen (co-founder of Google Maps), among other senior internet and software entrepreneurs.
Working closely with the founders to determine the product direction, market opportunity and talent and competitor landscape in carbon sequestration and land management for forestry, we used these insights to direct the talent and organisational design requirements necessary for significant growth. Ensuring Zulu Forest Sciences had the right expertise and solutions on the path to building its first software product and creating the first GTM team provided the foundation for a significant fundraising round and the first revenue opportunities at the highest scale.
