Founded by Samir Desai, James Meekings and Andrew Mullinger in London, Funding Circle was created with a mission to provide an alternative source of capital via peer-to-peer lending. In 2013, Accel Partners led a funding round of $37 million, giving Funding Circle a total funding amount of $58 million, leading to their expansion into North America and merger with San Franciso-based Endurance Lending Network. More recently, Funding Circle raised $300 million at IPO in 2018.
